Pre-Race News and Bankruptcy Conclusion

Dale Coyne Racing announced a sponsor for Bruno Junqueira today. Z-Line Designs, which sponsors Joe Gibbs Racing in whatever they call the Busch Series these days, has joined the team. It is noted that Mario Moraes is carrying Sonny’s BBQ sponsorship, a chain a barbecue restaurants. Coyne owns a few chains, so it’s self-promotion.

Still no word on the specific infraction that sent Ed and AJ IV to the back of the field.

I held off on reporting this until my guy, commenter Fred, confirmed this, but the deal for CCWS assets has been approved in bankruptcy court, according to Steve Ballard. There were some changes to the deal The sale price was upped from $6mil to $6,250,000. The overall monetary compensation to the CCWS entities, however, was not changed, though, as the consulting fees paid to Forsythe and Kalkhoven were each decreased by $125,000 to $1,875,000. All objections from the various creditors have been withdrawn or overruled.

Long Beach must have a minimum of 17 cars, and it is up to GF and KK to put forth their “best effort” to achieve that number. TG will pay prize money for the top 5 finishing positions consistent to that of Motegi. The prize money comes out of KK & GF’s consulting fees. The only other obligations TG has for Long Beach is the services of Tony Cotman and production and telecast costs of the race.

Also, the assimilation of Long Beach as an IndyCar race next season will come with a nice $500,000 sanctioning fee, payable to the league, for five years. Over those five years, TG cannot buy the race.

Finally, another shill for Indy Race Control. If you’re going to buy it, it really supports the site if you buy it through the banners or the sponsored link on the side of the page. If you’re leaning against it or on the fence, I’ll give a review of it tomorrow. While you’re at it, I bet those google ad sponsors in the side bar would be nice to click and check out.

Update:  AR1 rumors that Tyler Tadevic, the General Manager of Pacific Coast Motorsports, has already purchased or will purchase the team from owner Daddy Figge with the intent of running a single car team in the ICS from Indy onward.

fyi, I clicked your banner ad to help you out (how did you get around that with wordpress btw??) only to discover that as a mac user the “Race Control” doohicky is useless to me. Not that I should be surprised as “Race Director” (the CC version) also punished those of us with better taste in computers ;-)

    Like the blog btw.
