RACE DAY

It’s race day morning!

Here’s a quick rundown of things. Commenter John in Speedway asked where I found the iseesports video link.  While it was somewhat uncertain leading into race weekend, it appears that Indy Race Control is for the race only.  The streams of practice, qualifying, and IPS Indy Lights events are available by selecting the Watch Live option under the Multimedia menu over at IndyCar.com.  As of this morning, though, the Watch Live option is pointing towards the Race Control order and startup page.  You can, therefore, use (and bookmark) this link for the free streaming video.

Note:  The Firestone Indy Lights Miami 100 is at 12:30 EDT, and will be shown at the aforementioned link.

Still awaiting word on Jay Howard.  It was his knee, and looking over his crash, which is available under the Multimedia -> Up to SPEED option under the Scott Dixon wins Poll.. video, it wasn’t a terribly hard wreck.  Those can sometimes be the worst, but he may have just jammed his knee on impact.  On the topic of Up to SPEED, I really enjoyed Arni’s videos last year. Lauren Bohlander does a really good job, though.  She’s also ridiculously gorgeous.

As for race picks, my TSO Fantasy League (free!) lineup was Dixon, Wheldon, Helio, AJ IV, and Jay Howard.  While I did pick the two that wrecked last night, I don’t think you can count out Wheldon just yet. That said, I expect Dixon to run away with it.  Only three drivers have won at Homestead in its tenure with the league:  Hornish, Dixon, and Wheldon.  TCGR has won the last four.  Dixon won pole in less-than-ideal conditions with an early attempt while the track was at its warmest and the grip was at its lowest, and he hugged for the entire run.

Briscoe has been fast, but I don’ know that he can keep his nose clean through a race yet.  Marco and Danica (and to a lesser extent Mutoh) can compete for the top 5, but they’ll have to keep the car together as well.  Finally, it remains to be seen how Panther will perform on race day, but their qualifying performance was disappointing.

Thus, the official iiMy forecasted top 5!

  • Scott Dixon
  • Helio Castroneves
  • Dan Wheldon
  • Tony Kanaan
  • AJ Foyt IV

I’ll be back later with the 0-day forecast, which, not to spoil, looks optimistic as worst, darn right excellent at best.  I’ll also drop in with whatever news comes about, including news on Jay Howard.
