Quick Tuesday Update

By the time I finish this post, it’ll probably be wednesday.  That said, it was a pretty slow news day.  No driver news came across the wires, so at this point, I’d say there’s little chance for anyone additional.  TBA’s in existence are PDM, Penske #3, Panther #2, and American Dream #2.  I don’t really expect any of the three to materialize, but I guess there is still a chance for announcements tomorrow.

It looks like if there are any announcements, they’ll get some decent coverage.  I say that because I expect on-track action to at least limited by rain.  There’s a chance they might get on in the late afternoon, but it looks wet to start the day.

I had a thought.  They should extend, at least in the first day and for qualifying, the day to 7:00 EDT so that a real happy hour exists again.  With Indiana adopting daylight savings, the concept of happy hour has basically hit the tubes, since the track doesn’t really cool that much.

Jeff over at My Name is IRL pointed out that Sarah Fisher is accepting donations via her website. It’s been well documented that both her sponsors are playing the role of deadbeat.  I hate to say it, but unless you actually have something to promote, your money is probably better off going to a good cause.  I don’t know that I’d consider Sarah Fisher Racing, no matter how screwed she may have been, a good cause.

Chuck Buckman, the Dale Coyne Racing mechanic who was mowed over by Danica on friday, has been released from the hospital.  Here’s to a full recovery.

Danica is on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the second time.  I was going to make a crack about starting fifth to get on the cover, but over since 1981, the best I have is Roberto Guerrero and Mark Dismore.  Well, I’m not going to goof on Dismore because he was my favorite old school IRL driver.  As for Guerrero, well, he’s probably been goofed on enough in his life.  If I go back to 1980, I have Jerry Sneva, but I don’t know any good Jerry Sneva jokes.  To give Danica some props, though, it’s a very good picture of her on the cover.  The Pete Rose mop cut works well.  Also, just be glad I didn’t take the Pete Rose/Danica thing a step further.
