Don’t Take Injustice Lying Down

People who know me well know that I kind of have a problem with authority. If I’ve got a complaint, I’ll more than freely speak my mind. Well, with Kentucky two days away and the upcoming Versus announcement, I’ve determined that whining isn’t the best action at this point. Most of my family lives in Cincinnati. If I’m home for a weekend, I sure as heck want to be able to watch a race. Well, Time Warner in Cincinnati doesn’t offer Versus whatsoever.

Therefore, I’ve made a flier to be handed out at the Kentucky race. I won’t be attending, but hopefully Cousins Joe and Teddy will print some off and hand them out, as well as some other readers. It’s available as a Word Document or a PDF. It’s in black-and-white for easy and cheap printing.

People of the ‘nati unite. You will need to demand Versus, because it isn’t just going to magically come to you.

    Dude, get a dish.

Switch to DirectTV then you can shill two more things for the IRL……hey this is actually good. There are no cable/satellite monopolies, just switch. I think you losing your sense on this one…..

In Cincinnati, your only real choice is Time Warner, with dishes being the exception. Unless you live in the suburb of Amelia, you’re SOL with Time Warner. I’ll tell you right now dishes aren’t too popular in Cincinnati.

I would think NHL fans in Cincy (there has to be a few in a city that size) would be just as pissed. Maybe you can unite.

But seriously, as a survivor of the Comcast v. Big Ten Network war you have my sympathy. I missed Indiana’s first bowl season in 15 years and one of their more exciting college basketball seasons in awhile.

I was listening to a few interviews tonight on 1070 The Fan, with high ranking IRL and IMS officials, and they encouraged anyone who does not get Versus to raise their voices (similar to the Big Ten Network). Versus wants this type of publicity. It’s nice to see a Versus truly embrace the IRL. The IRL basically told ESPN that they want extended coverage (pre-race and post-race) in addition to other shows and promotion. ESPN basically said “Sorry, we can’t accomodate.” So the IRL found Versus, who was willing to put us #1. I love it. It was also mentioned that there were clauses in the contract that would allow the IRL to bail out if Versus doesn’t meet expectations. This is a great move, and I hope everyone realizes that.

WTF?????I’ll tell you right now dishes aren’t too popular in Cincinnati.”

    I must be missing something…..

Buckeye state is dominated by Time Warner, but all you do is complain about it?

I think the majority of fans are moving forward on this one…..

  8. Clint Says:

Versus can certainly “magically come to you.” Just pick up a phone and order DirecTV. I’ve had it since ‘98 and love it. Versus is on DirecTV, along with tons of HD programming…not to mention the Sunday NFL Ticket. Folks need to break away from those silly cable companies. Get your TV programming from the sky…”it magically comes to you.” I too live in the Cincy area, not a big deal. Just pick up a phone and get a dish. It’s not like cable service is free to the public.
