Barber Entry, No Anything, Some Nothing

Ryan Hunter-Reay will be testing at Barber, but only for half the time.  With today’s participation list at Barber announced, RHR will share the #13 with EJ Viso. That leaves some interpretation.  I’d be a lot more confident if he were at least testing his own car.

Team 3G and Foyt have made "other arrangements", according to today’s news and notes.  That’s a lie, though, because while Foyt tested at MSR Houston as a substitution, Team 3G is "finalizing plans" for a private test.  Foyt makes sense.  3G smells fishy.

No second Coyne.  Conquest is riding a full-blown TBA.  No Rubicon.

Everything else is as expected.

Golly, what ever happened to the Brazilian sugar gas people sponsoring a car.

I think that Brazilian ethanol is sponsoring a car…Votorantim, Moraes’s sponsor at KV.

Here is a link to the IRL news release about the Brazilian ethanol deal:

In reading the news release, no car was to be sponsored.

Also, to minimize misunderstandings, the ethanol is initially supposed to continue to come from USA domestic producers. Here is the quote from the news release: “Initially, UNICA (the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association) will look to partner with a U.S. company to supply the IndyCar Series with American-produced corn-based ethanol.”

  4. Fred Says:

Mario Moraes is the grandson of Antonio Ermilio de Moraes, the billionaire Brazilian industrialist who is the head of the multi-disciplinary Brazilian company Votorantim.

Votorantim invested last autumn in an American biofuels company that is partnering with Votorantim to develop in Brazil a diesel fuel made from sugar cane.

[...] Foyt and 3G had already said they wouldn’t be there.  Well, in addition to those two, HVM and Conquest have also said that they won’t make the test.  Well, I’m glad I’m not there, because at this point, it’s only roughly ten cars beyond the test they had back in late 2007.  Well, I was at that test in late 2007, and I will say that it was amazing how many people were there.  It was, honestly, one of the best experiences I’ve had as a race fan.
