Thank You for Joining Me in Formula 1…SeaBass Out

According to James Allen’s blog, Sebastien Bourdais is out at Toro Rosso.  Now, I don’t really report on F1 news, but you’ve got to stop and wonder what’s next for the four-time Champ Car Champ.  His seat has been on thin ice for about, well, his entire time in F1, but this year notably.  Bourdais is saying that he’s going forward till he hears otherwise, but apparently James Allen is hearing otherwise before Sebastien himself.

Earlier in the season, there were rumors that if Bourdais was out of a car before Indy, his old team would get him in a car.  Would they self fund a seat if he’s let go?  Is Bob Doornbos running thin on money?  It makes you think.  The guy did dominate the ol’ World Series for them.

Poor Seabass. It sucks to have been paired with Vettel for the first year. You can almost excuse getting smoked by him. But to consistently be behind Buemi on the second year, you have to know that the Grim Reaper is coming for you. It would be great to have him back in Champ…er…the IRL.

…ouch – and to compound matters, he has qualified last for the German GP too!!

It’s sad. We haven’t seen anyone move from American open-wheelers and flourish on the world stage since Montoya, and he didn’t even win a World Drivers Championship. I was really rooting for Bourdais.

I would speculate that he will try LeMans cars next. Like Cavin said, he has nothing left to prove in America, besides the 500.
